The same islands, from a harbour half an hour up the coast
Split is the biggest departure port in Dalmatia, and its boat tours are priced accordingly. Ours leave from Trogir, about 30 minutes west along the coast, and reach the same Blue Lagoon, the same Blue Cave on Biševo and the same islands — usually for less money, in smaller groups, and with a shorter run to the first swim. If you are staying in Split and want a full day on the water, the drive is worth it.
Why leave from Trogir instead of Split?
Trogir sits closer to the islands than Split does, so you spend more of the day swimming and less of it in transit. Boats from the Split Riva have to clear the city harbour and cross the channel before the trip really starts. From Trogir you are at the Blue Lagoon in about 30 minutes. Groups are smaller too — our boats take 12 guests where a Split day-cruise can carry sixty.
How to get from Split to Trogir
By car it is roughly 30 minutes along the D8 coastal road, with parking near the Trogir waterfront. Bus 37 runs from the Split suburban terminal to Trogir every 20–30 minutes and takes about an hour, and a taxi or transfer runs 25–35 minutes. Which tour suits a day trip from Split?
If you are making the drive, make it a full day: the Three Island Tour gives you the Blue Lagoon, Maslinica and Duga Bay with breakfast and a grilled lunch on board. Short on time or travelling with small children? The Blue Lagoon half-day leaves morning and afternoon and is back before dinner. For the open sea and Biševo, the Blue Cave & 5 Islands is the big one — it starts at 06:30, so guests coming from Split usually sleep in Trogir the night before or set an early alarm.
Renting a boat or chartering privately
A private charter gives your group the whole speedboat with a licensed local skipper and a route you help shape. Because the price is per boat, a group of six or eight from one apartment often pays about the same each as a seat on a Split group cruise, with none of the timetable. If you hold a boat licence you can also rent one of our boats and take the helm yourself.
