Blue Cave Tour boat tour from Trogir

Blue Cave Tour at a glance

About this tour

This is the big Adriatic adventure for travellers who want the most iconic offshore sights in one unforgettable day. The Blue Cave glows with a surreal blue light, Vis reveals dramatic coves and sea caves, and Hvar brings that polished island energy with cafes, yachts and stone streets. Because the route is long and weather-sensitive, we keep the experience focused, comfortable and well timed, with a licensed skipper choosing the best rhythm of swimming, exploring and open-sea cruising.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Blue Cave tour from Trogir worth it?

If you want the single most striking thing in this part of the Adriatic, yes. The cave glows an electric blue for about two hours around midday and photographs do not exaggerate it. But it is a ten-hour day on a fast boat with a 06:30 start, so it suits people who want an adventure rather than a relaxing swim day. If a lazy day on the water is what you are after, the Blue Lagoon half-day is the better use of your money.

Why does the Blue Cave tour leave at 6:30 in the morning?

To be at Biševo before the crowds. The cave admits a limited number of small boats at a time and by late morning the queue can be an hour or more, in open sea. Leaving Trogir at 06:30 puts us there around 10:00, near the front. The early alarm is the whole reason the day works.

What happens if we cannot get into the Blue Cave?

Entry depends on the sea and the tide, and no operator anywhere can promise it. If the swell closes the cave we tell you before you board, and you can move to another day or take a full refund. If it closes while we are already out, the rest of the day still runs — Stiniva, the Green Cave and Hvar — and we refund the cave ticket, which is paid on site and not part of our price.

Will I get seasick on the Blue Cave tour?

It is the roughest of our tours. You are on a speedboat in open sea for a good part of ten hours, and the crossing to Biševo is exposed. If you know you are prone to motion sickness, take something before departure rather than on the boat, sit towards the middle and stay outside in the air. We are honest about this because a sick guest has a miserable day.

Can children come on the Blue Cave tour?

From age 8. It is not suitable for younger children, pregnant women or anyone with back problems, because of the length and the impact of a fast boat on open water. Children under 5 are not permitted inside the cave itself at all, which is a rule of the site and not ours. For families with small children the Three Island Tour or the Blue Lagoon half-day are the right choices.

What is not included in the €110?

The Blue Cave entrance ticket, which you buy on site, lunch in Hvar, and the Hvar town entrance fee in peak season. Everything else is in: licensed captain, fuel, marina fees, water and soft drinks on board, life jackets and insurance. We list it this way because the ticket price is set by the site and changes without notice.

Blue Cave from Trogir or from Split — does it matter?

Trogir is a little closer to the open sea, so the crossing starts sooner and you spend less of the day getting there. If you are staying in Split it is about 30 minutes up the coast by car or an hour on bus 37. The tour itself is the same water either way.

What should we bring on the Blue Cave tour?

Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen you have already applied, a hat, sunglasses and a light layer for the ride out — a speedboat at speed is cold even in August. Cash for the cave ticket and lunch in Hvar. Water and soft drinks are on board.

We’ve booked a tour twice this week with this company. We’ve met some great people who made both trips and incredible experience for us. On our first tour we went to blue lagoon, which was awesome and then to two beautiful islands. The second tour was even better as Duje, the driver, really took time to explain about diving and all different creatures that live at the beautiful shores we’ve visited. Duje also talked about living in the area and had some great suggestions for places and restaurants to visit. If we ever come back we’ll sure like to get back in touch with Duje or the people from this company because we have experienced two great days with them!
