It varies by stop, but the anchorages used on our tours are chosen to be swimmable rather than deep open water. Life jackets are on board for anyone who wants the reassurance, at any depth, and nobody is required to swim out of their comfort zone to enjoy a stop.

Sharks

They exist in the Adriatic, technically, but they stay in deep offshore water far from the coastal bays and anchorages our tours actually use. A shark encounter here is not a realistic concern, and it is not something the crew fields questions about more than once or twice a season.

Sea urchins: the actual hazard

This is the one worth knowing about. Sea urchins live in the shallow, rocky shallows around the edges of bays, including around the small islets that ring the Blue Lagoon and around Maslinica, wherever the water is clean, since urchins are a sign of a healthy sea rather than a dirty one. They do not live in the open, sandy middle where boats anchor and where most of the actual swimming happens.
